FAQ

What will I receive with my download bundle?

The LOVEBUNDLE includes 8 unique pop-up template designs in both pdf and svg formats - with and without stencil text. The PDF files are ready to print and hand-cut, the SVG files are compatible with most makes of cutting machines (vinyl cutters etc). All together you'll receive 30 files.

What equipment do I need?

If you are cutting the templates by hand you will need and A4 printer, A4 paper stock, a sharp scalpel / x-acto knife, a cutting-mat or cardboard to cut on, and a steel ruler. Refer to my handy equipment guide for details.

If you are cutting the templates using a plotter, you'll only need paper stock (200 - 320 gsm) and of course one of the many makes of plotter!

In the unlikely event of any problems we will try and resolve any issues as quickly as possible. You can get in touch by email and we will deal with your enquiry person to person. (no automated communications!)

How secure are my payment and personal details when purchasing the download?

All your personal details are treated with the strictest of confidence and our payments are accredited and secure using the PayPal platform. No personal information will be stored or sent by us to third parties!

What paper should I use?

All papers have different characteristics, as a general guide use paper with 200gsm - 320gsm weight. Your paper supplier / craft shop can advise you if you are uncertain about the weight of a particular stock.

Superfine Cartridge 220 gsm is a great value option while Conisseur 100% Cotton 300 gsm is a luxury, more expensive sheet. It is best to buy a selection of stock available in your area and experiment with all different types of paper - coated and uncoated in the 200 - 320 gsm weight range.

What does GSM mean?

GSM denotes the weight of the paper (in other words the thickness of the stock) in grammes / square meter of material. For pop-up projects the ideal weight is between 200 - 320 gsm - although it can be slightly less or more depending on the paper.

What size is the finished card and what size envelope does it fit into?

The card dimensions open unfolded are: 144 mm x 206 mm / folded closed are: 103 x 144 mm.

All the cards fit C6 size envelopes (114 mm x 162 mm) - This is a standard greeting card envelope format available online and in stationery shops.

How difficult are the projects and what helpful resources can I access?

All the projects are rated in difficulty from the simplest - one star ★ to the most challenging - four stars ★★★★. Links are provided with every design to Youtube tutorials that guide you through every fold in sequence along with helpful tips and suggestions.

How long do the projects take to complete?

The time required to complete the project depends on the complexity of the template and the method of cutting.

Hand cutting (from the PDF printouts) take a lot longer - from around 10 minutes (lovebirds design) to around an hour (San Marco design).

The plotters usually cut each template in under a minute - depending on the make with a set up time of around 2 - 5 minutes.

The folding time really depends on the level of skill and precision and should take from around 30 seconds (lovebirds design) to around 5 - 10 minutes (San Marco design).

What is ORIGAMIC ARCHITECTURE / KIRIGAMI?

Origamic architecture was developed by the great Masahiro Chatani, a Japanese architect who originated the technique in the 1980’s to cut and fold architectural facades from a single sheet of paper.

Kirigami is the term often used to refer to the the art form of creating a popup (paper-engineered) structure from a single sheet of paper.

What if my printer can’t print on heavy weight stock above 180 gsm?

You can use a number of inexpensive online printing services who generally have options for A4 single sided print on 250 - 300 gsm stock.

Alternatively, print the template on standard 80 - 120 gsm copy paper and stick over your heavier stock securely before cutting the design through both layers of paper.
